Where to eat after the London Marathon 2018

We’re just a couple of weeks out from the 2018 London Marathon and perhaps you’re wondering where to go to eat after if you’re running or supporting. With runners burning around 2,500 calories during the epic 26.2 mile route, a good meal is likely to be one of the first things on the agenda after crossing the finishing line. Luckily, many London pubs and restaurants get in the spirit of the marathon, offering offers and treats galore for the finishers. Play it right and you could even eat your way around the city for nothing!

Royal China Group

If you love Chinese food as much as I do, then you’ll want to check out the Royal China Group who are offering London Marathon finishers a free dim sum dish when dining in one of their Baker Street, Bayswater, Fulham, Harrow-on-the-Hill or Canary Wharf restaurants on the day of the Marathon. Simply show your medal to a member of staff on arrival.

Greenwood London

Mmmm, pizza. Great for carb loading and great for cramming into your face  at the end of 26.2 miles. Greenwood London in Victoria (so close to the finish) have put together this yummy looking Recovery Pizza for marathon runners. Just show them your medal and enjoy!

Waldorf Hilton

To celebrate the amazing challenge being undertaken by the 40,000+ people running the London Marathon this Sunday, Hilton is providing a special package to help runners (and their dedicated supporters too!) recover after the gruelling 26.2 mile course.

For somewhere to relax and rejuvenate after the race, the Waldorf Hilton, positioned near the finish line, is offering all medal holders and their families free access to its pop-up Marathon Hospitality Station. Situated in the hotels ‘tea room’, the Waldorf Hilton team will be ready and waiting to serve complimentary homemade lemonade, energy shots and energy bars. The Hospitality Station will be open to runners and their support teams from 1pm until 4pm on Sunday 22nd April.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Who doesn’t love a burger after a long run? 26.2 miles is much easier to stomach when the promise of a GBK cheeseburger is at the end of it. This is yet to be confirmed, but hopefully this will be sorted soon! UPDATE: GBK have confirmed that they are NOT doing anything this year after all.

Vapiano isn’t just a great place to carb load, it’s also the perfect place to recover after! With restaurants in Soho, Great Portland Street, and Bankside, runners can recover with a well deserved pizza or fresh pasta, made in front of you. Vapiano isn’t offering an on the day deal to marathon runners, but you CAN help yourself to a bag of gummy bears as you pay the bill. Plus upload a selfie to social media using the tag #eatpastarunfaster to be in with a chance of winning a gift card. Check out my review here.

The Real Greek

I LOVE Greek food and if you’re a London Marathon finisher, you’re in for a treat! Simply show your finishers medal when you visit The Real Greek from Sunday 22nd April 2018 to Friday 27th April 2018 to get a free skewer plate when you dine in. Choose from:

  • Chicken
  • Lamb Kefte
  • Loukaniko Beef & Pork Sausage
  • Falafel
  • Halloumi

All are served with saffron rice, Greek Salad, tzatziki and warm flatbread. Yum, how good does that sound?!

All Bar One

If you’ve run 26.2 miles, then you are probably thirsty and want to celebrate with bubbles. Download the All Bar One app and you can download a voucher for a free glass of champagne. Show it along with your finishers medal in any of the London branches on Sunday and toast your achievement.

Fuller’s Pubs

They may not be offering free food, but  keep an eye on your race goody bag – rumour has it you can usually score a free pint of London Pride voucher, although I didn’t get one in 2015 – not that I’m, ahem, BITTER or anything.

I’ll be adding to this list as we approach the marathon. Know somewhere to score some free grub or a beer? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll add to the list!
