We’re just a few days out from this year’s London Marathon and perhaps you’re wondering where to go to eat after if you’re running or supporting. With runners burning around 2,500 calories during the epic 26.2 mile route, a good meal is likely to be one of the first things on the agenda after crossing the finishing line. Luckily, many London pubs and restaurants get in the spirit of the marathon, offering offers and treats galore for the finishers. Play it right and you could even eat your way around the city for nothing!
Royal China Group
If you love Chinese food as much as I do, then you’ll want to check out the Royal China Group who are offering London Marathon finishers a free dim sum dish when dining in one of their restaurants on marathon day. Simply show your medal to a member of staff on arrival.
The Real Greek
Offering freshly cooked and delicious Greek food, London Marathon finishers can visit any of The Real Greek restaurants any time after the race until April 28th and show their medal in return for a free “Greek Skewer Plate” meal of their choice.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen
Who doesn’t love a burger after a long run? 26.2 miles is much easier to stomach when the promise of a GBK cheeseburger is at the end of it. Show your medal on arrival and enjoy that juicy reward. As they say themselves, it’ll make the 26.2 miles totally worth it.
They may not be offering free food, but official sponsor, Fuller’s have developed a Runner’s Menu, designed especially for London Marathon runners. With special attention to carbohydrates and protein, this menu has been developed to aid recovery after running 26.2 miles. And if you use the running.london app from Virgin Money, you can grab a 26% discount when ordering from this menu. And keep an eye on your race goody bag – rumour has it you can usually score a free pint of London Pride voucher, although I didn’t get one in 2015 – not that I’m, ahem, BITTER or anything.
I’ll be adding to this list as we approach the marathon. Know somewhere to score some free grub or a beer? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll add to the list!
