You know how every now and then, you go shopping and you find something just so fantastic, you want to wax lyrical about it over and over again? Yep, that’s me with my new Decathlon Kalenji Kanergy Trail Running Skirt. I called into Decathlon at Surrey Quays last week to buy a new swimming costume and ended up with additional purchases. Decathlon really is a treasure trove, frequently selling me things I don’t actually need, but want.
I spotted this running skirt in the running section of the store and was immediately drawn to it.
This skirt has three major selling points.
- The shorts are quite long, protecting the thighs from chafing
- It has two zipped pockets, one at the front and one at the back, perfect for carrying phone, cash, and gels/sweets
- It has a drawstring waist.
I make no secret of the fact that I like running in skirts, however I do suffer from thigh chafing and the inbuilt shorts on most brands don’t offer me ample coverage. These finish a couple of inches above the knee and the tight compression fit means that they don’t ride up. It’s a little bit of a wiggle to get them on and a little bit of adjusting to get them to sit correctly, but once on, they are SO comfortable. Not only that, I wore them yesterday to run 12 miles in the sunshine at the Spitfire Scramble. I’m please to report that not only did they stay in place, they were flexible and easy to move around in, with NO CHAFING.
I usually wear a size 14 and I opted for a size L. The shorts were comfortably tight (as compression shorts should be) and it fitted well round the waist – I just used the drawstring to pull it slightly tighter. It retails for just £27.99 which I think is a bargain compared to premium brands. If you’re looking for a skirt for distance running, then this is one that you really need to consider – so good that I’m going to buy another!
