Although I’ve been really lucky to visit different countries through tenpin bowling, I haven’t had a proper break since my teens. When I’ve been away on a bowling trip, most of the time is spent in a bowling alley and I’ve never really got to experience much of the country I’m in – definitely a pity when you think that I’ve been lucky enough to visit St Petersberg in Russia! So when my friend Jo said she was going to Jersey for a couple of days if I wanted to join her, I jumped at the chance.
I’m just a bit excited about this. I last visited Jersey in 2007 for, yes, you guessed it, bowling. Yes, I won a medal in the Triple Crown which was nice, and I ate some delicious food, but I didn’t get to see much other than the inside of the hotel and the bowl. I know it’s a beautiful place, so I’m looking forward to exploring it properly. Although we’re only going for a couple of nights, it’s shaping up to be an action packed couple of days. On Friday, we’re going kayaking with Jersey Kayak Adventures. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a kayak, so I’m looking forward to this. Exploring the island from the water is going to be so much fun, not to mention the upper body workout!
We’re also going to get the opportunity to rack up some parkrun tourism!
Can you believe that the inaugural Jersey parkrun will take place while we’re there? So obviously in the interests of tourism, we’ll be racking up a 5k run and supporting their first event. Yay!
I’m actually running in the Truro Half Marathon this weekend, so the idea of going to Jersey to relax was a good one…even though we’ll be getting plenty of exercise! I haven’t been away for so long, so I cannot wait for a change of scene and seeing somewhere different.
#PerfectParis2015 – Win a perfect weekend in Paris!
If, like me, you haven’t been away for a long time, you might be interested in entering the #PerfectParis2015 competition. A weekend in Paris, complete with a Michelin star meal, flights and hotel for two sounds like the perfect break, especially if you haven’t been away for a long time. The Eiffel Tower is an experience – I remember climbing to the top when I visited years ago and being blown away by the views. With so much to do and incredible food on offer, Paris is on my list of places to revisit – perhaps for the marathon one year? The competition is running until October 31st 2015 and is organised by Leisurejobs.com – simply share the information as directed to be in with a chance to win!
Have you been to Paris before? Will you be entering the competition? Any advice for me on Jersey?
