Juneathon Day 2: Weights and Aches

We’re having some people over later and we’ve had a lot to do, so not much time for masses of exercise today. Additionally, my foot is still not right as it proved when it gave way as I got into the bath, so I think I’m wise to rest it another day. In the meanwhile, it being Juneathon and being injured is inspiring me to try something new, so I have booked into my first ever Pilates class on Monday.

So, what was my effort today? A minute long plank and then I did that other core exercise where you lie on your stomach and then elevate your arms and legs. I held that for a minute. I then got Jimmy’s weights out and did two sets of reps of bicep curls on each arm. We suspect the weights weigh 17lb; I can confirm that my right arm is much stronger due to the bowling, handling it fairly easily, but my left arm struggled!

I have spent the rest of the day baking for later. Here are some of my treats:

Spinach and Tomato Quiche
Union Jack Traybake. A bit wonky, but not a bad effort.
Lemon Meringue Cakes. Confirmed tasty - not as pretty as I hoped for.

And finally, the limerick:

There once was a girl with an ache

Who really wanted some cake

She worked out with weights

With some help from her date

And took herself off to bake

  1. Wow, that quiche had me drooling on my keyboard!

I started doing Pilates at the beginning of this year while recovering from plantar fasciitis. Thought I might as well work on my core as my feet were naffed up. Wasn’t sure if I’d like it at all, but turns out I loved it and still go every week. Good luck, and I hope it does as much for you as it has for me!

    1. You should come so we can drink beer and get pissed. Oh wait, we do that anyway. And this week. Yay!
