Juneathon Day 4: I am hardcore

Admittedly, not as hardcore as some of you, but today I have been very active.

I tried my first ever pilates class today at the Eltham Centre. I think I can safely say that I am a convert and I want to make the effort to go once a week. We did floor based pilates as opposed to the machine based and I really enjoyed it. The exercise is low impact and relaxing and although I did feel a bit of burn in my core, I never really felt like I was breaking a sweat. The stretches focus on the core muscles and I can certainly see why people say that they find it a great way of toning and building up core strength. The hour went really quickly and despite not feeling too tired, the moment I stood up, all of my muscles started letting me know that they’d had a good work out – wow! I can’t wait until next week.

Despite feeling a little bit achy, I decided to walk the 1.49 miles home in the spirit of Juneathon. After getting home, I decided that my foot felt good enough to go for a run, so I swigged back some water and headed straight out of the door again. 1.62 miles in 15 minutes at 9.17m/m pace is certainly not going to set the world alight, but it’s the farthest I’ve run since my foot started playing up and luckily I got through it with no pain, bar a lead like feeling in my legs thanks to the pilates.

So all in all, I’m feeling pretty good today and I’m feeling positive that my foot may be feeling strong enough for the 5k in 3 weeks time – watch this space!

Today I was super hardcore

To my abs, I declared war

Pilates was tried

My abs were fried

So now I must do some more!

    That pace isn’t that bad. Have you put together a plan yet for Luton – 23 weeks today!!!
