Juneathon Day 5: A Run

I’m feeling a bit “bleh” today so I apologise for the bland blog post. I woke up not feeling too well and so the last thing I wanted to do was go for a run. However, I pulled myself out of the front door and went for a gentle jog. I made the mistake of turning up a road I’d never been up before and it turned out to be over half a kilometre of uphill. This wouldn’t usually be an issue, but today it was. However, I persevered and made it to the top… View Post

Juneathon Day 4: I am hardcore

Admittedly, not as hardcore as some of you, but today I have been very active. I tried my first ever pilates class today at the Eltham Centre. I think I can safely say that I am a convert and I want to make the effort to go once a week. We did floor based pilates as opposed to the machine based and I really enjoyed it. The exercise is low impact and relaxing and although I did feel a bit of burn in my core, I never really felt like I was breaking a sweat.… View Post

Juneathon Day 3: Running in the Reign

Please forgive the slightly terrible pun in the title, but it’s raining and I couldn’t resist, despite knowing that some of you are probably slightly sick of Jubilee Fever. I say enjoy it, we’ve got an extra Bank Holiday. Today’s effort was, as the title suggests, a run in the rain. My foot has been painful, but I decided to try running a mile in my old shoes to see if it was changing shoes that had caused the pain. I’m hoping my instincts were right as I had no pain at all whilst I… View Post

Juneathon Day 2: Weights and Aches

We’re having some people over later and we’ve had a lot to do, so not much time for masses of exercise today. Additionally, my foot is still not right as it proved when it gave way as I got into the bath, so I think I’m wise to rest it another day. In the meanwhile, it being Juneathon and being injured is inspiring me to try something new, so I have booked into my first ever Pilates class on Monday. So, what was my effort today? A minute long plank and then I did that… View Post

Juneathon Day 1

Juneathon┬áDay 1 was utterly pathetic. I had a hospital appointment this morning and I had planned to go for a jog this evening, but I’m struggling with my feet at the moment, especially the right foot. I’ve been building up again slowly to try and get the strength back. Unfortunately, following a lot of walking around over the past couple of days, my foot has been incredibly painful. So I’m claiming my 1.54 mile walk to and from the hospital as today’s effort. I did have to make a run for the bus and it… View Post
