Time for something a little bit different. Those of you who have followed me for a while know that while I identify as a fitness blogger, I am a sucker for nice clothes. I also have a wedding to go to later this summer, which is always an excuse for a fabulous new outfit. I was recently contacted by Quiz Clothing, who have recently launched a line of occasionwear. They asked me if I would like to try some of the range – but with a difference. I was going to be asked to select an outfit for another blogger and she was going to be asked to select one for me. I said yes, picked out some items for Heather who blogs at Of Beauty And Nothingness, and sat back to see what she would select for me.
I love dresses and if you’ve followed me for a while, you will also know just how much I love vintage style clothing. I was thrilled to receive a Navy Floral Bardot Dip Hem dress. This is different for me as I have never worn anything off the shoulders before and the hem dip at the back is certainly different! However the print and shape keeps it true to the vintage lover in me. The dress is no longer available from the standard range, but it is available from the Curve range in sizes 18-28. I’m wearing a size 16 to factor for my chest, but the dress is stretch style, so a 14 would have been fine, especially as it is a bit “gappy” under my arm pits.
Heather paired this with a navy jacket, which is perfect for a chilly summer evening or to smarten up any outfit. I’m a fan of jackets for instantly taking an outfit from casual to meetings, and these are available for £17.99 in a range of colours. I’m on the go so much now, I will probably buy a second jacket for those days where I’m running around trying to fit everything in around meeting people. These are also available from the Curve range.
The outfit has been finished off perfectly with a delightful pair of sparkly heels and a matching bag. I love heels and I used to wear them all the time, but since struggling with SPD when pregnant, I have struggled to wear them since, plus now I’m running more again, I don’t find them easy to wear. However, these have a low heel, which is just enough to make me feel glamorous without worrying that I’m going to hurt myself. I am wearing a size 6 and have wide feet, with narrow ankles. They fit well as the straps mean you can make them as tight as you need. Pick them up for £29.99. These shoes will be joining me on my upcoming trip to Malta in case I get the chance to wear them out for a drink or two in the evening.
As someone who now spends a lot of time in athleisurewear, with the occasional dress up in my much-loved rockabilly style, it was a lot of fun to turn my style over to someone else to dress me! I will be wearing this outfit to the wedding as it’s comfortable and pretty, and most of all, I feel good in it. I haven’t yet washed the dress or jacket as they have only been tried on and posed in, so I can’t yet comment on the quality after washing, but the material feels good.
