A few weeks back, I was given the opportunity to try some clothing from RUNA, an athleisure brand putting an emphasis on ” premium fabrics, cutting-edge prints and unparalleled comfort.” The range includes a selection of leggings, dresses and unisex t-shirts and sweatshirts, made from high performance fabrics. Xsenia, the founder of the company, from St Petersburg, Russia, has showcased her collections around the world.
I received a pair of Seef Pannel Leggings Dubai Gloaming (£33) and a matching Unisex Sweatshirt (£50). Both items are incredibly soft and comfortable. I generally wear a size 14 and was sent a size large in the leggings and small in the sweatshirt.
The leggings have been put through their paces as you may have seen if you follow me on instagram. As well as using them for kettlebells and yoga, I have also been wearing them as a comfortable and casual item of clothing during the day, including a trip to Latvia.
I love the print and the appearance of the leggings. The performance fabric makes them great for yoga and lifting and they are easy to move in. At 5’5 and size 14, they fit well but are slightly long. At this time, the RUNA sizing is quite limited, topping out at L. The waistband is elasticated and roomy in the leggings, so they would also be suitable for a 16. I’m also a fan of the mesh panel which gives them an unusual appearance, but I would suggest wearing dark coloured underwear and a longer top, due to the panel running all the way up to the waist.
The sweatshirt, although beautiful quality, I have to confess isn’t something that I would usually wear. I prefer to wear cardigans and things that open up the front and prefer to layer, so I’ve been taking it to yoga to use as a cover up during relaxation at the end as it is warm and comfortable. I also think that the print is personally too much for me in a sweatshirt. Fashion is subjective though and someone else might love wearing it with black skinny jeans.
Although I won’t be buying any sweatshirts, I will likely buy a t-shirt dress and probably another pair of leggings from RUNA as the quality is good and offers a cheaper alternative to Sweaty Betty for pieces that stand out. The website has recently relaunched at runa-ldn.com where you can see the full range and learn more about Xsenia. The shopping cart doesn’t yet to be perfect as there is no option to select sizes, but hopefully this will be rectified shortly.
Are you a fan of athleisure wear? I love it as a comfortable option to dart about in during the day!
