Sherwood Pines parkrun report

A couple of weeks back, I had planned to visit Rother Valley parkrun so that I could make it onto the parkrun “most events” table. For the unaware, once you have run in 20 different UK venues, you make the board. Alas, I got up a bit too late to get there in time so a quick change of plan took me to Sherwood Pines parkrun instead.     Sherwood Pines parkrun is held in Sherwood Pines Forest Park, near Mansfield. I was excited to try it out as it is a one lap course… View Post

Finsbury parkrun report

A few weeks back, I paid a visit to London to watch my friend Lindsay in the London Marathon. I haven’t done any parkruns this year, so I got the train at the crack of dawn to take advantage of some parkrun tourism, deciding to pay a visit to Finsbury. I arranged with Lindsay that I would meet her at King’s Cross and introduce her to her first parkrun outside Northern Ireland.     Finsbury parkrun is located in Finsbury Park and is extremely accessible on public transport. It’s just a short walk from Manor… View Post

Peckham Rye parkrun report

I haven’t done many parkruns this year. I did the New Year’s Day double and then that’s been about it. But I finally got to check another venue off the list a few weeks back when I visited Peckham Rye parkrun with Jo.     Based in South East London, Peckham Rye parkrun takes place in Peckham Rye Park and is accessible from Honor Oak, Nunhead, Peckham and East Dulwich. The course is a three lapper, run on tarmac paths. I had been told it was flat, but with a few twists and turns. The… View Post

Running unfit after time out

In case you weren’t already aware, I’ve been ill. Oh. You mean, I haven’t shut up about it? Well, now I’m running unfit. You know what it’s like. We all make a fuss about long runs, or having to go out for a run when it’s raining and we make excuses and we huff and flounce and eventually go out. Of course, it’s always enjoyable once we go out and we feel amazing afterwards, but the fact remains that going out is the hard bit. Of course, I’m Little Miss Contrary. I make a fuss… View Post

Guernsey parkrun run report

It’s been quiet around here recently. If you follow my blog on Facebook, you’ll know that’s because I’ve had a fantastic short break in Guernsey with my friend Jo. We had a great few days eating fantastic food, walking, kayaking, exploring, and of course, parkrun. If you’ve been following me, you’ll know that I was really looking forward to checking out Guernsey parkrun for some ├╝ber parkrun tourism and also because it was going to be my milestone 50th parkrun. Guernsey parkrun is held at Pembroke Bay, Vale, a 25 minute or so bus ride… View Post
