Active Travel: Isle of Wight

I love going on active trips away. I’ve visited Jersey and Guernsey over the past couple of years, but for an active trip even closer to home, it’s worth checking out the Isle Of Wight as a destination. Thanks to Visit Isle of Wight, I had the opportunity to visit for the Isle of Wight Festival of Running.     Getting there Travel to the Isle of Wight is straightforward. You will want a car to get around if you want to visit different parts of the island, and ferries depart from Portsmouth and Southampton.… View Post

How to cope during an exercise lay …

I’m starting to go a bit mad at the moment as I’m not allowed to do much in the way of exercise. I have itchy feet from wanting to run and I want to get some exercise. I also find that running is a good way to relieve stress, so I’m finding sitting around doing nothing really hard. I decided to ask some of my fellow fitness bloggers what they do when they aren’t allowed to work out.   Walk Simply going for a walk was the most popular option. Decathlon Scavenger Hunt

What happens when you throw 9 bloggers into Decathlon’s Surrey Quays store for a scavenger hunt? The best fun in town to be had on a Wednesday night and an introduction to more sports than I ever thought possible.     I love Decathlon. I also took part in the Belfast edition of their popular run series, which is a FREE, organised, timed race held at various Decathlon stores – they are keen to involve their local… View Post

Decathlon Domyos Energy Xtrem Review

I’m a fan of Decathlon. I find it impossible to go into one of their stores and leave without buying anything. Over the years, they’ve served me in running kit, camping equipment and their tennis skirts are great for bowling. They’re a great company too, so when they asked me to review a selection of clothing from the Domyos range, I naturally said yes. The Domyos range at Decathlon is reasonably priced and one of the things I like is the way that all of the items are mix and match. I was sent 3… View Post

Your Pace Or Mine? Book Review

As part of The Runner Beans Book Club, I’ve been reading Your Pace Or Mine by Lisa Jackson*. Although I finished the book a while back, I’ve been meaning to review it for quite a while. Sadly, it seems the pace of my reviewing is about the same as my running – not very quick.     Lisa, the author, is perhaps not what you would expect from a marathon runner who has now joined the “100 Marathon Club”. She completed number 100 at a Saxons, Vikings, Normans event I attended in April and she… View Post
