North London Half Marathon 2017 Race Review

A couple of weeks back, I took part in the North London Half Marathon for the second year in a row. I had a tough race in 2016, having suffered from gastric flu leading up to the event. I was looking forward to hopefully doing myself justice this year as a member of the #NLSquad.     Perfectly timed for those training for a spring marathon, the North London Half gives runners the opportunity to test their fitness on a closed road race and the cost, for London, is reasonable, starting at £38. One great thing for motivation is to register for a race. I’m now looking at my calendar for next year and I’m pleased to announce that I will be taking part in the North London Half Marathon as a race ambassador.  Taking place at Wembley on 12th March, this out and back route runs Stadium to Stadium from Wembley to Saracens’ Allianz Park. After a lap round the stadium, it’s time to turn back to Wembley where it’s promised that you’ll get to cross The Greatest Finish Line In The World! I have an axe… View Post

Chislehurst Half Marathon race report

Holy macaroni, Batman. I’m not sure why I’ve come across all superhero over here (actually, feck it, I am a superhero, grrrrr), but the above sentence sums up the Chislehurst Half Marathon pretty well. Brilliantly organised by the non-profit organisation Chislehurst Half Marathon (with many of Petts Wood Runners!), this was a challenge in hills, roads, steps, woods, mud and sunshine. Basically, everything needed to make one tough event. It was epic. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a half marathon as much as this one, despite “running” a personal worst. I was contacted a… View Post

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2016 – Team Unicef

Are you taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon this year? Perhaps you missed out in the ballot and are looking for a charity place. Charity giving is of course personal and I urge runners to think carefully about taking charity places in events – if you wish to take one, please make sure it’s a charity that you are passionate about! One charity that I often donate to is Unicef. They work hard to help the millions of children in danger throughout the world. They work in over 190 countries, influencing laws, policies… View Post

North London Half Marathon Race Report

I’m sure that you’ve all been desperate to know whether or not I ran in the North London Half Marathon. Well, despite having a bad bug last week and not being very sensible, I took the decision on Saturday night to run it anyway. Mostly because I knew loads of other people doing it, I missed it last year and I didn’t want to feel left out. Plus Urban Massage had provided me with my place. Luckily, transport was playing ball and getting to the start at Wembley was fairly quick and painless. The route… View Post
