I’m running (another) marathon

The thing is, I just need to decide which one. I want to run another marathon. I want to get under 5 hours. I was hoping for a London place, but that didn’t happen. So I’m now overdosing on race reports and trying to decide which to do.     At the moment, I’ve narrowed it down to the following:   Belfast Marathon I love Belfast. I lived there for 3 years and it’s a brilliant city. I wasn’t a runner when I lived there, so the idea of running the city appeals. It would… View Post

Planning for a Spring Marathon

It’s that time of year when we start to eagerly anticipate the results of the London Marathon ballot. In just two weeks time, magazines will start dropping through letterboxes or emails into inboxes and we’ll know whether we are in or not. Spoiler, most of us won’t be.     Yep. Sucks, doesn’t it? An open letter to “slow” marathon runners

Dear “Slow” Marathon Runner I bet you can’t believe that tomorrow is the big day. The Virgin Money London Marathon 2017. It took me well over 6 hours. 6:20ish, I think was the actual time. Not… View Post

Train for a marathon on 2 runs a …

Some of you know that I ran my first marathon in Brighton in April 2011. It was the hottest day of the year to date and I got sunburnt, but I had a great day and loved every minute of it. I ran pretty well. I didn’t have any real expectations, but I had hoped to get as close to 5 hours as possible, finishing in 5:08ish. I still think had it not been quite so hot, I may have nudged under. I recovered quickly and was back running within a few days. I was thrilled… View Post

Running a marathon abroad

I seem to have a bit of wanderlust at the moment. I keep seeing photos from exotic locations on Facebook where my friends have been on holiday, or I gorge myself on one too many travel blogs and start to get itchy feet.     So now I’m starting to toy with the idea of going to run a marathon abroad. It would satisfy my wanderlust and I think it would be fun to run an event abroad. Plus having spent the money to go and travel would surely motivate me to work extra hard,… View Post
