Notfast 10k 2018 Run Report

Over the weekend, I decided to take part in the Notfast 10k in Newark. I am currently marathon training and this was my first race since having pneumonia last year. The Notfast 10k is organised by Notfast Running Club and needless to say, I took the “Notfast” aspect very seriously indeed.     I had about 8 miles to do on the plan over the weekend and I opted for junior parkrun with Rose in Newark, followed by a quick drive over to Newark Rugby Club, the start and finish point of the race. North London Half Marathon 2017 Race Review

A couple of weeks back, I took part in the North London Half Marathon for the second year in a row. I had a tough race in 2016, having suffered from gastric flu leading up to the event. I was looking forward to hopefully doing myself justice this year as a member of the #NLSquad.     Perfectly timed for those training for a spring marathon, the North London Half gives runners the opportunity to test their fitness on a closed road race and the cost, for London, is reasonable, starting at £38. Your entry… View Post

David Bowie Music Legends Race Report

A couple of weeks back, I ran in the David Bowie Music Legends race, organised by the legendary Saxons, Vikings & Normans. For the unaware, SVN arrange races usually around Kent which are incredibly friendly, involve laps, plenty of chocolate and an awesome medal. I’ve done quite a few events with SVN now so  when they announced a David Bowie themed race, I obviously had to take part. Excitement grew rapidly over this event, to be held at The Cyclopark in Gravesend. Quite a buzz developed on Twitter, with the term “Bowieathon” being coined by… View Post

Decathlon Running Series Belfast

I love Decathlon. I was introduced to the store a few years ago and have purchased much of my running kit from there since. They offer one of the biggest selections of sports equipment I’ve ever seen, great quality at very reasonable prices. One of their unique selling points is the sheer number of sports they cater for, it isn’t just the mainstream. They stock equipment for about 70 different sports, from the more mainstream running and football, to archery and rock climbing. Simply put, if you want to get started in a new… View Post

My first aquathon

Yesterday, I took part in my first Aquathon. I’ve debated whether or not to write about it. I wanted to blog about my experiences, then I completed the event and didn’t want to, then I changed my mind. Lucy of Paddle, Peddle, Pace posted on Facebook that her club Havering Tri were organising an Aquathon with a choice of distances. I fancied doing something different and despite being a pretty terrible swimmer, I decided to have a go at the super sprint distance (200m swim, 3k run). My technique is poor and I get tired… View Post
