London Marathon Ballot Rejection Truth

It’s May 1st 2017 and runners world-wide know what that means. It’s the day that the London Marathon ballot opens, we all throw our names into a hat and we wait. And wait. And wait. At the end of September / early October, some of us will be rewarded for our patience with a place into the Holy Grail of marathons. Most of us will be left being bitter on social media, or pretending that we didn’t want to do it anyway. For those of you who are interested in stats, Dan put a post… View Post

We ended Great Run Herbalife!

If you follow me on social media, you will see how vocal Stephen and I have been over our disgust with regards to the Great Run and Herbalife nutrition partnership. If we’re Facebook friends, then you’ll know it’s virtually the only thing I’ve spoken about over the last couple of days. I would apologise for spamming you all, but I’m not going to do that. I ranted. I blogged. I set up a petition. Stephen and I took to Twitter. We got our message in front of influential people (thank you, Ben Coomber). Then last… View Post

An open letter to “slow” marathon runners

Dear “Slow” Marathon Runner I bet you can’t believe that tomorrow is the big day. The Virgin Money London Marathon 2017. You might be thinking “f**k, that came around fast!” You’re probably a bit nervous, a bit scared and a lot excited, all at once. It took me well over 6 hours. 6:20ish, I think was the actual time. Not… View Post

Running Struggle

I’ve been finding running a real struggle again recently. I had started to fall back in love with it, then I moved house. It was really chaotic and I wasn’t really running much. Then I did the North London Half Marathon and it really hurt and I felt awful afterward. I deserved to feel physically rough as I wasn’t in good shape for it, but I also felt mentally drained.     I had booked in to do a 50 mile ultra marathon on April 1st. I had a tactic in my head after the… View Post

North London Half Marathon 2017 Race Review

A couple of weeks back, I took part in the North London Half Marathon for the second year in a row. I had a tough race in 2016, having suffered from gastric flu leading up to the event. I was looking forward to hopefully doing myself justice this year as a member of the #NLSquad.     Perfectly timed for those training for a spring marathon, the North London Half gives runners the opportunity to test their fitness on a closed road race and the cost, for London, is reasonable, starting at £38. Your entry… View Post
