Your Pace Or Mine? Book Review

As part of The Runner Beans Book Club, I’ve been reading Your Pace Or Mine by Lisa Jackson*. Although I finished the book a while back, I’ve been meaning to review it for quite a while. Sadly, it seems the pace of my reviewing is about the same as my running – not very quick.     Lisa, the author, is perhaps not what you would expect from a marathon runner who has now joined the “100 Marathon Club”. She completed number 100 at a Saxons, Vikings, Normans event I attended in April and she… View Post

Running Naked Without A Watch

No, not literally running naked. Although if that is your thing, I believe there’s a 5k race in Kent somewhere you can do in the buff. No, I’m talking about running without a watch. When I started running, I didn’t have a fancy watch. Couldn’t afford one. Instead, I used a stopwatch and mapped out routes on Map My Run. Then, when I got a bit more into it, I downloaded Runkeeper. I’d use it to check my speed and distance at the end, but after pressing play, I’d put it into my waist pack… View Post

How I Fell In Love With Running …

I’ve had a little bit of a love/hate relationship with running over the last few months. I loved getting my 50th parkrun milestone done at last, but I hated how painful some of the runs felt on the way. I think a large part of it has come from the fact that I was focussing much more on covering distance, rather than covering shorter distances… View Post

Tips For Race Day Accomodation

Post in collaboration with InterContinental Hotels Planning a big city race involves logistics. Sadly, it isn’t always as simple as getting into your running kit, charging your watch and running. They become a mission in bag drops, getting to the start, getting away from the finish and often, working out where to stay. Many big races now start early and require runners to turn up before public transport can realistically get them there. Or they require you to turn up the day before for your race pack, in which case, you may as well stay… View Post

The Great Sports Bra Workout

A while back, I shared this image I created about how hard it is to do up a sports bra to my Facebook page:     I still maintain that this is true. Yesterday, I decided to take myself out for a short run in the afternoon to clear my head. Just a 20 minute bimble. Prior to my run, I spent 20 minutes trying to do up my damn sports bra. Don’t get me wrong, it’s SO important to wear them and I swear by this particular style as NOTHING moves. But they also… View Post
