My Summer Challenge

I’m someone who loves a challenge. Tell me I can’t do something and I’ll immediately try to do it. What can I say, I’m competitive? Although I’m a bit of a princess in that I’m not a huge fan of camping and I don’t like mud, one of my favourite races is the 24 hour Spitfire Scramble held in Hornchurch, East London every summer. I ran this in 2015 and in 2016 with a team of fitness bloggers and this year is going to be the biggest challenge yet.     Originally, I thought I… View Post

Spitfire Scramble 2016 Race Report

Following our success at Spitfire Scramble last year, we couldn’t wait to run again this year! We were a slightly smaller team this year, going with 6 runners, but we were excited and raring to go. Unfortunately, my husband’s scheduling error left me in a position where I had to go over on Sunday instead of Saturday with the rest of the girls, which wasn’t ideal, but the rest of the team were just AWESOME. Spitfire Scramble is a 24 hour relay race, held from noon until noon. Runners can run in teams, as a… View Post

Spitfire Scramble Race Report – Part 2

Part 1 is available here. Once again, I have slacked on bringing you part 2 of this report. Cassie ran strongly in our second lap, despite the sunshine, before passing over to Alma. Everyone ran slightly quicker than predicted, putting us well ahead of schedule. Well done team!   How fabulous does Corey look? After an afternoon of cake, general chat, catching up with the legend who is Louise, and playing with Hal and Rose (who came to visit), it was soon time for my second lap. I was going out at about 8pm, with sundown due… View Post

Spitfire Scramble 2015 Race Report – Part 1

I apologise. As Squadron Leader, I have been slacking. The Spitfire Scramble is a 24 hour relay race in Hornchurch. It was set up by Danny Coyle, former editor of Men’s Running magazine and offers Londoners an alternative to the popular Thunder Run. I’d casually suggested that maybe one day, UK Fitness Bloggers should enter a 24 hour race. One thing led to another and all of a sudden, I had a team ready and willing to run. Unfortunately, a few runners were plagued with injuries along the way but for the great adventure, I… View Post
